2012 MCSE Winter School

2012 MCSE Winter School: Applied Mathematics on Uncertainty Quantification.

1/5/2012

In January 2012 the University's Mathematical and Computational Science and Engineering (MCSE) division hosted a school-workshop sponsored by The UNESCO Centre International de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées (CIMPA) and The Office of Competitive Research Funds (OCRF) focusing on recent advances in Applied Mathematics for Uncertainty Quantification. The winter school will run for eight days beginning on Wednesday anuary 4, 2012, and will focus on modern applications of Uncertainty Quantification in industry and society. The school will place an emphasis on problems involving partial differential equations, probabilistic modeling, and stochastic processes. Topics to be covered include: Advanced Methods in Applied Mathematics for Uncertainty Quantification, Fast Algorithms for Optimization and Control, and Applications of Stochastic Partial Differential Equations. The lectures and talks aim to give junior scientists and graduate students an insight into the latest developments in uncertainty quantification.
